Season highlights from INDX MAN
1 March 2023Organised by the UK’s top buying group for fashion, home and leisure, INDX MAN showcases menswear, footwear and accessories.
Curated for buyers by buyers, INDX MAN 2023 featured the major clothing designers, manufacturers and suppliers in the UK and from overseas.
Our man, Beck’s own Phil Bullen, was in the front row.
Phil spent the day talking to buyers, industry representatives and other independent menswear retailers.
Here are Phil’s notes on what the seasons ahead will present, and what the very best-dressed men will be wearing.
Many top fashion ranges from Beck’s existing suppliers were on show. The big names included, Cavani, Benetti, Frattelli, Scotts, Torre, Heirloom and Barker Shoes.
Also, impressive collections from Magee, Martinique and Marc Darcy in particular. Watch out for news of fantastic Marc Darcy pieces making their way to our Hull showroom in the not-too-distant future…
Menswear 2023 – from the catwalk to the High Street
The suit
Comfortable, adaptable and constantly wearable, two and three-piece suits are still the smart choice for all occasions.
The cut
Style-wise, all the popular styles from last year remain. Don’t be surprised however to see more double-breasted jackets and either matching or contrasting, double-breasted waistcoats.
At the other end of the style range, look out for super-skinny cut suits that are sure to be popular with Prom and party-goers this season.
Menswear by Tweed
The colour palette
Whilst grey check still dominates, and tweed is very popular, you’ll notice lighter fabrics and colours for summer events with cream, beige, sky blue and palest grey featuring heavily.
However, it’s not all pastels as there were plenty of vibrant and block colour suits on show, and expect to see lots and lots of burgundy!
The shorts-suit
A stunning new summer suit from Cavani took the catwalk by storm, featuring a jacket and tailored shorts. What a clever and versatile option for a wedding in the sun, a day at the races, or dinner with a loved one, the epitome of smart cool!
Beck’s Outfitters has this suit in stock in FIVE beautiful colours at our Hull showroom and it’s already proving to be one of the ‘looks’ of the season.
The return of…Linen!
You may wince at the memory of the crumpled, shapeless, ‘slept-in-my-jacket’ look of previous 100% linen fashions! However, you’ll be pleased to hear that the new linen looks like linen, but careful blending with other materials achieves the look without creases and holds its shape.
INDX MAN is far more than suits. There were individual pieces, separates, accessories and finishing touches to contrast, compliment and make a style statement with or without a matching jacket.
New stock is on display at Beck’s Outfitters of Hull and we’re expecting many of the new styles to land in time for the spring/summer season in just a couple of weeks.
